With numerous restaurants to choose from, it can be hard to know where to start, but this month we’ve compiled a list of our favourites.

Read on to discover five fantastic restaurants in East Sussex.

1. Dill, Lewes

Dill opened its doors in Lewes just a few years ago in 2022, but they’ve certainly hit the ground running since then.

Not only does it feature in the Michelin Guide, but Dill has also recently been nominated for Best Sussex Restaurant at the BRAVO Awards 2025.

Dill offers a diverse selection of original small plates, with dishes inspired by different global cuisines. The menu has a range of meat, fish, and vegetarian options, largely sourced from the local area.

The rustic decor and friendly staff help create a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for a night out.

2. Cru, Eastbourne

Cru is a wine shop, bar, and restaurant that offers a unique drinking and dining experience to Eastbourne.

Founded by wine experts and food enthusiasts, Cru pairs high-quality artisan wines with locally sourced, seasonal food.

The menu features a selection of small plates, perfect for sharing tapas-style or enjoying as a starter before ordering larger plates, which are also on offer for a more traditional dining experience.

There is a regular rotation of wines by the glass, along with a curated list of over 200 bottles, all chosen by in-house wine experts who take care to ensure the best in quality, value, and variety.

So, whether you’re looking for a full meal, a quick drink, or somewhere to pick up a special bottle, Cru has got you covered.

3. Olliver’s Restaurant, Seaford

Ollivers Restaurant has been serving homemade, delicious food since opening in 2003.

With a commitment to quality ingredients and expertly crafted dishes, they have a diverse menu that includes fresh seafood, French-inspired cuisine, and vibrant Indian dishes.

Whether you’re planning a business gathering, a special family celebration, or simply a relaxed evening out, Ollivers provides an exceptional dining experience.

Their curated set menus, paired with an excellent selection of wines, are served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.

As one of the more popular local restaurants, Olliver’s is always busy, so be sure to book ahead.

4. Burnt Orange, Brighton

Just a stone’s throw from the seafront and nearby to Brighton’s iconic Lanes, Burnt Orange is a Michelin-recommended restaurant and bar that’s easy to miss but well worth discovering.

The menu features a selection of sharing plates cooked over a wood-fired grill, with Middle Eastern and North African influences. They also offer their curated “experience menus” that come with a range of dishes selected by the chefs.

Burnt Orange is also great for cocktail lovers, as they offer a wide range of traditional and more exotic mixes.

So, if you find yourself in Brighton looking for top-quality food and delicious drinks, Burnt Orange is a must!

5. Fork, Lewes

Fork, in Lewes, is dedicated to modern British cooking, with a focus on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

Their ever-changing menu showcases the best of what local farmers, artisan producers, and fishermen have to offer – sustainably sourced meat, vegetables, cheeses, and the freshest seafood straight from the boats of Newhaven.

They also offer a few different sample menus so you can try a carefully curated selection of dishes.

Led by Head Chef Jack Standen, whose passion for locally produced food shines through in every dish, Fork delivers a dining experience that celebrates quality, flavour, and craftsmanship.
